Über uns

We’re happy to have you reading our blog. Sit down, have some cake and watch us swim, bike and run.

With this Blog we’re monitoring our progress and sharing our experiences in Triathlon. And by “we” we’re referring to Daniii and Sarah. We set our goal to become a triathlete in fall 2014 while we were sitting together and had a coffee. It was a crazy idea while talking about our workouts. By this time we shared running together and went to the gym during lunch breaks. A high five was the start and commitment and we keep on doing it after each workout and race.

“Go go go, we are here to achieve great things!” and “keep on rocking!”, these are the words you will hear from me while doing workouts and runs together with Sarah. I’m the Motivator and sometimes the Drill Sergant while Sarah is the Pacemaker and keeps us going with positive vibes.

About 10 years ago I was a lifeguard in my home city and once in a year there is a triathlon. Back then I said to myself that I want to do a triathlon at one day. But this was just a daydream, wasn’t it? Well, time went by, I lived in several cities, spent some time for lots of different things but didn’t do much sports beside going to the gym 1-2 times a week.

In 2013 I moved to Berlin and I started swimming again. In addition I met Sarah at a company organized race and we started running together and participated in several races.

So, what comes after swimming and before the running part of a triathlon? The bike … well, this is the next step and it needs to be achieved before the first triathlon in 2015.

If you had asked me 5 years ago whether I’d ever sign up for a Triathlon, I’d have laughed in your face, turned around and left the room.

I hated running, had no bike and and hadn’t properly swum since elementary school. Today, however, things have changed and Triathlon is suddenly on the menu.

When I moved back to Berlin, I joined a Wednesday running group of lovely older women. Those ladies would chit chat our weekly 10k away easily, while I was huffing and puffing and very sure I was about to die. After some months of training – surprisingly enough – running got easier and I can now already look back on some successfully finished 5k and 10k races and even on a half marathon!

I bike to work every day (yes, through sun, rain, snow, thunder and possibly meat balls some time soon) with my comfy green city bike and I have taken up swimming again (very recently). I know this is going to be a tough project – let’s stop writing and get going!
